He was a 1960's rocker with a gimmick. Playing off his first and middle names, his group dressed in Revolutionary War era costumes and called themselves "Paul Revere and the Raiders."

Paul Revere Dick was born in Nebraska and got his start playing gigs in Idaho and Oregon.

His group "the Raiders" was a staple on a popular late afternoon ABC-TV music show called "Where the Action Is"…and that's where they previewed songs that became major hits.

Revere credited Dick Clark for helping him hit the big time

The group also appeared on the "Batman" TV show, in a segment featuring Burgess Meredith as "The Penguin".

The band kept playing, although Lindsay and other members dropped out of the group.

Paul Revere Dick died of cancer at age 76 at his home in Caldwell, Idaho. An acquaintance says he went peacefully.
